No, at Captain Parker’s, we operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do this for a few reasons. We are a neighborhood pub where people can drop in and dine with us on any given day/evening/occasion without “booking a table” in advance. This policy also helps us accommodate more guests at a shorter wait time throughout the evening.
If there is a wait, our host will provide you with an estimated time range for your seating and add your name to our waitlist. We record names in order of arrival and seat parties in that order. To be seated, the whole party must be complete and present.
We DO NOT take any names over the phone for our waitlist. If you are a large party (8+ guests), it is always helpful to call a few minutes before your arrival to give us a heads up, but this does not ensure your name has been recorded on our guest list.
We do our absolute best to accommodate large parties of up to 20 people in our dining room. Groups who are willing to split up into smaller tables have a greater chance of getting seated in a shorter amount of time.
We love dogs but do not allow them in our dining areas unless it is a service animal out of respect for our guests who may not love dogs or suffer from allergies. We do have picnic tables on the grassy lawn next to the building which you are welcome to enjoy takeout at with your furry friend.
We are honored that you thought of us to host your gathering, but we, unfortunately, do not have the space to dedicate to a private event.
Yes, please click here to visit our catering page for more information.
The minimum number of guests is 20; otherwise, we suggest you purchase our chowder or chowder base by the quart from the restaurant. Please place orders at least 24 hours before the event date.
Most of the time we can accept takeout orders via our online ordering page or by calling 508-771-4266. Due to our kitchen’s small size, we cannot accept takeout orders when the dining room has a wait to ensure that our dining room guests have the best possible experience. We hate to turn away any guests but appreciate your understanding. We recommend checking our online ordering page to confirm whether we are offering takeout. Our clam chowder is always available for takeout and is also available in markets around New England.
Yes, many of our menu items are made to order; we have fresh ingredients on hand that allow us to accommodate most dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure that no one leaves hungry. We ask that you please inform your server if you or someone in your party has an allergy or restriction. We are confident that you will enjoy a meal at Captain Parker’s, no matter what your dietary limitations may be.
We do, and we think they make an excellent gift for anyone who likes delicious food! They are available for purchase through the website (click here) or in person at our West Yarmouth location. E-gift cards are available for immediate delivery via email or text message. Physical gift certificates ordered on our website are processed within 24 hours and sent out via USPS, Monday-Saturday.
We no longer ship chowder directly from the restaurant. Local seafood market, Kyler’s Catch, ships our clam chowder for us. Call their market at (508) 984-5150 for pricing. Please keep in mind that the chowder is a very perishable product that requires expedited shipping, which can be very costly.
We do not recommend freezing our chowder; it does not defrost to its original delicious state. We sell quarts of our base that can be frozen and reheated later by adding light cream when you are ready to eat.
Approximately 1 quart of light cream is required per 1 quart of chowder base. Defrost the base in the refrigerator overnight (if frozen). We recommend placing the thawed base in the top compartment of a double boiler, but a regular pot will do just fine. Start by adding ½ quart of light cream and keep adding until the chowder is at your desired creaminess. Heat chowder to at least 140 degrees F and stir frequently to avoid sticking, especially if you do not use a double boiler. There you have it, enjoy!
Quarts of chowder and base are available for takeout from the restaurant. Our chowder is also for sale in many local retailers and supermarkets in the New England area. The list is always changing, but here is a quick summary: Shaw’s, Star Market, Stop & Shop, Big Y, Market Basket, Hannaford, Fancy’s (Osterville), Friend’s Marketplace (Orleans), Fresh Acres (Springfield), Cotuit Fresh Market (Cotuit), Park & Shop (Auburn), Brant Rock Market (Marshfield), Cape Fish & Lobster (Hyannis), Clam Man (Falmouth), Dennis Public Market (Dennis), Clement’s Market (Plymouth), Kyler’s Catch (New Bedford), Cataumet Fish (Cataumet), Fruit Center Marketplace (Hingham & Milton), Gerard Farm (Plymouth), Village Market (Scituate), Windfall Market (Falmouth) and more!
As much as we would like to confirm that they are the same, the truth is that the chowder sold at the restaurant is lovingly made on-site by our talented kitchen crew while the chowder that you find in stores is made by our co-packing partner. We have spent a lot of time with our co-packer perfecting the recipe of the retail version, but it is made on a much larger scale than what is produced at the restaurant. A very discerning chowder connoisseur will hopefully not be able to detect a difference. We are proud of our product and hope that the retail version is an identical substitute when you cannot make it to the restaurant to enjoy a bowl with us.
